Greetings! I'm Claude King and I am a passionate bird photographer and birder. My personal goal is continue to improve my photographic skills and significantly improve my birding skills and knowledge. If you enjoy photographs of birds or birding, this website is for you. I look forward to sharing my experiences and knowledge with you. If you're interested in seeing my bird portfolio, please check out the Portfolio menu. My Photo Galleries menu contains examples of all the bird species that I have photographed. The galleries are organized by group species much as they appear in the American Birding Association (ABA) checklists. My plan is to refresh the photo galleries over time,  with a goal of improving the overall quality fo the galleries. Additional, I plan to add species as photographic opportunities to do so arise.

As an avid learner, I'm open to suggestions by visitors to this website on potential locations to capture great bird images or on how to improve on what already appears here. As any bird photographer will tell you, birds, especially those found closer to my home province of Ontario, are not the most co-operative of creatures. There are many factors that come into play that make  photographing birds a challenge including: poor weather, poor lighting relative to subject bird(s), annoying twigs or leaves between you and your subject (this is a biggy, especially with warblers), less than ideal distance between you and your subject (try getting out of your car when there is a Red-tailed Hawk nearby) and believe it or not, skittish subjects that often don't appreciate looking down the barrel of a super-telephoto lens. I blow many more photo opportunities than I care to talk about, however, there's no better feeling than capturing a stunning photograph when all the stars align.

Seeing a life bird (i.e., a bird species you have never seen before) or glimpsing a great view of any bird leaves a lasting impression. I truly enjoy the learning experience and when it comes to avians, there is much to learn about. Fortunately, at this point in my life, I have the time and freedom to study and read about these wonderful creatures. Although I am not an expert birder, I am hopeful that birders visiting this site will enjoy reading my blog posts, both for the photos that may be included as well as interesting bird tips gained from those with more expertise than I about birding. My vision is that birders of all levels will enjoy visiting the website and sharing some of their tips with me and other visitors to the site.
